Farming

As part of our goal towards sustainability, VCM purchased 1 acre of land in 2014 to cultivate crops.  Our farming is a great learning experience for the children, who all take part in caring for our crops and land.  The children learn how to plant and harvest according to our sessional cycle, with respect for the land.  With this knowledge, the children will be able help create a sustainable future.

With the additional purchase of 2 acres in 2015, we now have 3 acres of land which we have used to increase the cultivation of crops and plant 100 mango trees.  This will not only provide food for the children at the ministry, school, and help poor families in the community but will generate much needed income for the ministry.

Currently, the land is producing crops such as corn, sweet potato, cassava, banana, yam, and beans. In the coming session we will plant papaya, jackfruit, passion fruit, and bananas.

How You Can Help

VCM would like to continue to purchase more land so that additional crops can be grown. This will allow for VCM to sell some of the food to help with funding those children not yet sponsored, as well as other finances.
