Come Volunteer With Us
Much of VCM's success is due to the love, support, and help from our volunteers. Volunteers from around the world have come and generously donated their time and hard work, leaving a huge impact on the community. With affordable accommodation, flexible work schedules, and a very friendly environment, volunteering with VCM is an opportunity not to be missed. Our programs offer a unique opportunity for students and other volunteers to enjoy the amazing beauty of Uganda and the rich culture of its people while making a difference in the lives of the children and in the community.
Qualifications
There is no specific qualification required to volunteer with VCM. However, volunteers must be flexible and patient. You should have a passion and love for children, as well as a desire to help within multicultural communities. We do ask that those under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of their stay.
Project Placements
VCM has many different areas of volunteer work. As a volunteer, you can choose a specific area where you would like to work, or you can choose to help in multiple areas.
Child Care: Help facilitate and organise activities, games, crafts, sing-a-longs, and dances as well as other creativity-based activities (We have some books and games here you can use or feel free to bring some toys and books to donate and use while you are here) The kids also like to visit the local field down the road to play a variety of sports and games.

Household Projects: Helping with cleaning, cooking and gardening.
Administration and Management: Work alongside the Director and Management Team to prepare budgets, project proposals, help write grant letters, and set up and maintain personal files for the children.
Teaching: VCM opened its school, C&K Child Development Center in February, 2015. Right now the school offers Nursery level to Primary 5 education. Those interested in teaching will work in the classrooms from 8:00am-4:00pm. You will work alongside with the other teachers, educating the children on social development, reading, writing, English, history, science, art, sports,Germany, numeracy etc

*Please note the school year is broken into 3 terms, Feb-April, June-August -October -November. During breaks you are welcome to help the children in their learning, but the age range will be different and it will not be in a classroom setting.
Healthcare: VCM does not yet have its own health care center, but is working together with one in the village for those volunteers interested in this kind of placement. Please enquire for more info if interested in this unique community outreach program!

Fundraising Resources
On this last note, we are a small non-profit organisation whose main purpose is to provide for children in need. Please help us by understanding that the small amount of money you will contribute to stay with us means so much and covers your accommodation, meals and internet. We understand you are going to be sacrificing your time which is very valuable to us also. That's why we most welcome anyone to try to start their own fundraiser online. There are many websites you can use. We have listed the most popular sites below.
